Rachel Goldsmith, Miss Teen NY International 2015 will be walking in solidarity with the LI/Queens NAMIWalks on May 2, at Jones Beach. IMG_8705

“I walk with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to put a face on teen depression. I want my peers to know that they are not alone. There is no shame in having depression. The only shame is in keeping it quiet; tell a friend, tell a parent, tell a teacher…get help. There is no need to suffer in silence,” shares Goldsmith who created UWILLBOK.com to giving struggling teens a safe place to share.

NAMIWalks is part of a national campaign to make first class treatment and community support available to all people with mental illness. Funds raised support NAMI programs and services available to all those affected by mental illness our LI/Queens community. NAMI is a nationwide grassroots, self-help and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of all those affected by severe mental illness. For more information on the Walk and NAMI Queens/Nassau, go to www.namiwalks.org/longislandqueens or www.namiqn.org.
